Our Only Hope

I've posted these quotes before but I want to post them again because Independence Day is just around the corner. I pray for our Country and all Nations of the world to turn their hearts to God and live.... it is the only way we can be healed from the sickness of our society.

"If we are to continue to have the freedoms that came of the inspiration of the Almighty to our Founding Fathers, we must return to the God who is their true Author."-Gordon B. Hinckley

"The solution lies not within our governments, schools, or symbols of popular culture, but rather within ourselves, our families, and our faith."- Gordon B. Hinckley

"Let all houses of worship ring with righteousness. Let people everywhere bow in reverence before the Almighty who is our one true source of strength. Let us look inward and adjust our priorities and standards, recommitting ourselves to time-honored virtues that embrace right and shun wrong. Let us look outward in the spirit of the Golden Rule. Let us work tirelessly to defend and strengthen the family, which is the fundamental unit of society." - Gordon B. Hinckley

"Can we expect peace and prosperity, harmony and goodwill, when we turn our backs on the Source of our Strength?..."- Gordon B. Hinckley

"I would hope that all of us, within our hearts would then resolve to live nearer to God and the commandments He has given us as a guide in our lives; to walk with gratitude before Him for His generous mercies; to incorporate virtue in its many forms into our lives; to recognize that someday we all must give an accounting of our lives to Him; to strengthen and defend the home; and seek His strength, His wisdom, His inspiration, and His love as we serve in the great society of which each of us is a part..."- Gordon B. Hinckley

Happy Father's Day

This is a really great video about a wonderful dad. My husband and I watched this together. We were both in tears.
I love stories like these!
To watch this awesome Father's Day Video, click on this link...
Happy Father's day to my wonderful dad, to my sweet father-in-law and to my very wonderful husband.
I am so blessed to have such great men and fathers in my life!!

Of course I can't forget gratitude for the Father of us all, MY HEAVENLY FATHER.
I love this song by Cherie call about our Father in Heaven, entitled "Names". I think it's perfect for Father's Day. It's the first song on my playlist if you want to listen.

Names
(Cherie Call)

He's been known throughout time by so many names
Creator of worlds and the ruler of all
And I do not disagree with the ones I have heard
Like The First and The Last, and Wonderful
Eternal and Endless, Provider and King,
And His Majesty
But when I think of the hundreds of prayers that I've prayed
There are so many more that I'd add to these, like

Mathematician, Concert Musician, Master Physician
and Listening Friend
Who knows all about cars, and my fragile heart
So the best name would still have to be
Heavenly Father

When I'm helping a friend He has sharpened my mind
When I've asked that my lips could say all the right things
He can part the Red Sea and still keep me from shaking
When I've prayed that my hands could hit all the right strings
He has always been there to handle the big things
But He can still find a way
To help me with tricky equations and dark twisty highways
And children with fevers
I know I can pray to the

Mathematician, Concert Musician, Master Physician
and Listening Friend
Who knows all about cars, and my fragile heart
So the best name would still have to be
Heavenly Father

And isn't it just what a father would do
Helping His children with all that He knew
And then using His wisdom to step back sometimes
On some of the answers we're just meant to find for ourselves

So we can be mathematicians, concert musicians,
Mothers, physicians, and listening friends
And we can learn about cars, and we can heal broken hearts
With the love that we've learned first hand
From a Heavenly Father

A Living Prayer

I love this song by Alison Krauss! It gives me chills.
I found this song on an amazing blog by this increadible musician who has such inspiring faith in the midst increadible trials.
http://mytricuspidatresia.blogspot.com/2009/06/my-brother-and-irony-of-life.html

"In this world I walk alone
With no place to call my home
But there's one who holds my hand
The rugged road through barren lands
The way is dark, the road is steep
But He's become my eyes to see
The strength to climb, my griefs to bear
The Savior lives inside me there
In Your love I find release
A haven from my unbelief
Take my life and let me be
A living prayer, my God to Thee
In these trials of life I find
Another voice inside my mind
He comforts me and bids me live
Inside the love the Father gives
In Your love I find release
A haven from my unbelief
Take my life and let me be
A living prayer, my God to Thee
Take my life and let me be
A living prayer, my God to Thee"

Nothing

Last night, my husband and I watched "Life After People" a History Channel Documentary. It shows theoretically what would happen to our planet if humans were to suddenly disappear. Fascinating stuff.

I found it very interesting that all man made things would eventually decay and disappear and the things made by God would thrive. It made me think of how powerless we really are as human beings and how much we take for granted.
This morning I woke up with this show still fresh in my mind.
I recalled the account where Moses spoke with God face to face...

"Moses looked, and beheld the world upon which he was created; and Moses beheld the world and the ends thereof, and all the children of men which are, and which were created; of the same he greatly marveled and wondered.

(below is a picture taken by the Hubble Telescope of galaxies... not individual stars but galaxies!!! ... and this is just a sliver of space!!!)
And the presence of God withdrew from Moses, that his glory was not upon Moses; and Moses was left unto himself. And as he was left unto himself, he fell unto the earth.
And it came to pass that it was for the space of many hours before Moses did again receive his natural strength like unto man; and he said unto himself: Now, for this cause I know that man is nothing, which thing I never had supposed."
Moses 1:8-10

The Prophet, Helaman compares man's power with God's power and states:

"O how great is the nothingness of the children of men; yea, even they are less than the dust of the earth. (Now you might think, that's a harsh thing to say....Why are we less than the dust of the earth? Helaman is not being rude here... he is just stating a fact. We are less than dust because of the principle of obedience.)
Helaman explains his point....

"For behold, the dust of the earth moveth hither and thither, to the dividing asunder, at the command of our great and everlasting God." (see God can command the elements including the dust to move and it does... most people don't move when God commands them to.)
If we are nothing then... where is the good news?

The good news is... to God we are everything... WHY?... because we are His children.

"And the Lord God spake unto Moses, saying: The heavens, they are many, and they cannot be numbered unto man; but they are numbered unto me, for they are mine.
And as one earth shall pass away, and the heavens thereof even so shall another come; and there is no end to my works, neither to my words.
For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."
- Moses 1:39

This is what our Father in Heaven works for! This is what He glories in and what He cares most about.... for His children to receive immortality and eternal life... and how is that obtained? Only in and through the atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He makes it possible to all mankind.
We have no power without Him but the good news is that when we choose Him to guide us and let Him "Father us"... there is nothing that He will ask of us that we can't do.

When the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary. He promised Mary that "with God, nothing shall be impossible."- Luke 1:37

And the prophet, Ammon states:
"I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in His strength I can do all things." - Alma 26:12

This is just a little something I've been thinking about.
