Of Mind and Heart

My husband and I were having a discussion the other night about education. And these are a couple of thoughts I had and I wanted to share them...

The finest education is not obtained in state universities but rather in the state of mind and heart.

With a formal education, one may achieve great positions of power, fame or wealth....but in all their fine schooling, if they fail to use this gift of knowledge for good, for the betterment of others, to share virtue and light, If their pursuit is for self and self alone then they have learned nothing and they are fools indeed.

Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying that higher education is not important. It is vital to obtain all the learning one can and seek wisdom all the days of their life. But like all other gifts from God it must be used with wisdom and for worthy purposes and then it will be added unto them, like Jesus teaches in the parable of the talents. For in God is the "highest" education. :)

This makes me think of Prov. 4:7. “With all thy getting get understanding.

..........What are your thoughts?

Heavenly Father has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. We are heirs to the throne, we are here to experience life,to magnify the experience.One way is to continue our education either in formal institutions of learning,or informal.Seek wisdom while she may be found.

D&C 109:7-9
7 And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom, seek learning even by study and also by faith;
8 Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God; (this is a commandment to us,not merely a suggestion)
This house is not a building but our own bodies and heart and soul and minds.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

I suppose that one of the oldest tricks of the adversary is to show us what "they" have done with their gift. Did they hide their light under a bushel, did they simply blow the candle out. The natural man is an enemy to God.We cannot be concerned about the natural man because their ways are not our ways.
D&C 6:36 Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not

I say this in the name of Jesus Christ Amen
