God is He that goeth with you...

This morning I was reading Deuteronomy chapter 20 and I couldn't help but apply this to our day and the battles we are facing to keep our religious freedom and our rights as parents. These verses gave me hope and I wanted to share them:

"1 When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the Lord thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
2 And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people.
3 And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;
4 For the Lord your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." - Deuteronomy 20:1-5

It is also interesting to note that in the next 5 verses this counsel is repeated 4 times, "let him [the soldier] go and return unto his house." to do what? to dedicate it to God and to be with his loved ones and property so he can defend them from others coming in and stealing it all away from him. see Deuteronomy 20: 5-8

The greatest and most important battles, I believe will be fought within our own homes... not against our own flesh but "against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12
