My Hopeless Romantic

I suppose that most people don't feel very attractive when they are sick. It's hard to keep up appearances when your struggling just to keep food down. Like a domino effect, this flu has gone from each of my children and now to me. I've had it for a few days and by this third day I'm feeling very unattractive.

Despite all my feelings of ugliness..... I have a sweet little 6yr. old boy who knows how to win my heart and make me feel very loved. (My husband likes to tease that my son is the hopeless romantic that I always wanted.) Yesterday, after taking a long bath to help ease all my aches and pains, I returned to my bedroom and found this heart on my pillow.

My sweet boy also wrote this for me on the whiteboard in the kitchen.
Watch out ladies! This boy is bound to break a lot of girls hearts.... because only one of you can have him.

Light at the End of the Tunnel

I'm starting to feel my old energy back again. I'm not quite up to par yet, but I'm getting there. It's such a relief to see a light at the end of the tunnel and know that it's not because I'm dying ha ha ha. My kids have all had some kind of throw-up bug all last week and I've been sick for 11 days, practically bed-ridden. I've had such violent coughing that I think I bruised my diaphragm. I seem to get bronchitis easily. I remember having it a lot as a child. I've never smoked before but when I was growing up some of my best friend's parents smoked... maybe I got a lot of second hand smoke then? I really don't know why I'm so susceptible to bronchitis? I'm just glad that I'm getting over it for this year at least.

There's a bunch of things I take for granted and health is one of those things. Man, when I'm old I hope I die quickly and not from some slowly deteriorating disease that drags out over 10 years... I can barely handle being in bed for 10 days!

Strength and Hope in the Midst of Trial

We sang this song in Church today and I cried all through it... the words are what I needed at this time. I have been struggling with an illness that the Dr.'s are still trying to figure out. I have anxiety over the "unknown" sometimes and it's baggage that I really don't need to carry. A wise person once said, "I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future." I just need to remember "peace be still" and know that it's all in God's hands.

I am so thankful for the power of prayer, for God's tender mercies, for the power of His word, the power of music and the comforting influence of the Spirit of the Lord.

"Master, the tempest is raging! The billows are tossing high! The sky is o'ershadow with blackness,No shelter or help is nigh;Carest Thou not that we perish? How canst Thou lie asleep,When each moment so madly is threateningA grave in the angry deep?

The winds and the waves shall obey Thy will,Peace, be still!Whether the wrath of the storm tossed sea,Or demons or men, or whatever it beNo waters can swallow the ship where liesThe Master of ocean, and earth, and skies; They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,Peace, be still! Peace, be still! They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,Peace, peace, be still!

Master, with anguish of spiritI bow in my grief today; The depths of my sad heart are troubledOh, waken and save, I pray!Torrents of sin and of anguishSweep o’er my sinking soul; And I perish! I perish! dear MasterOh, hasten, and take control.

Master, the terror is over,The elements sweetly rest;Earth’s sun in the calm lake is mirrored,And heaven’s within my breast;Linger, O blessèd Redeemer!Leave me alone no more; And with joy I shall make the blest harbor,And rest on the blissful shore."

Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3

I have to undergo a series of blood tests and I'm in a waiting period.... I don't like waiting.
The real test just might just be faith and patience.
